Except for the first track, which is a rock 'n' roll tune, all music on this unique folk sampler represents the "Huayno" genre - a very popular music and dance form in Perú and other South-American countries. It is characterized by pentatonic melodies, odd rhythms, and frequently high-pitched female vocals, too. Lyrics tend to be sung in the indigenous Quechua language. This album comprises some great genuine Huayno gems.

Deep from the center of Peru, in the middle of the Cordillera, it's the melancholic feeling's of the Peruvian hearts, but also filled full of hope and joy. This musicians grab a acoustic guitar, arps or violins, lots alcohol and left the heart over the table. Pure and raw sound from the guts.
Imagine yourself in the 70's, across the Valle de Mantaro, while listening arpas, violins, acoustic guitars and songs in Quechua language talking about deep love, about partners in life, about your town, your valley, your doves, your flowers, and all that it's around, that it's your nature, your universe.
Imagine that at the same time in the same mountains happened strange things like having Mick Jagger and Keith Richards traveling around Cusco (January 1969). A little later, Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda, Kris Kristofferson, Michelle Phillips, and many other artists were also filming "The Last movie" in the middle of the Andes (1971). Same time for the Military government in Peru and the national psychedelic rock was also at their best moment with Laghonia, Traffic Sound, El Polen, Pax and many others..
So well, at the same time is happening this beautiful music from the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Music from Huánuco, Huancayo, Ayacucho, Cusco, and other cities.
This collection of beautiful music came from our many private recordings, pressed in small quantities in original vinyl 7", most from 70's decade, nearly all are sung in quechua language and some orders instrumentals, just a couple in Spanish language.
